If you are following NPR or some of the other US news sources, you know that wikileaks.org has published over 96K US classified documents related to the Afghanistan War. This is a post on politics – so I just want to say that one of my favorite sites, FlowingData, has recently pointed to an interactive at The Guardian. What makes this interactive awesome is how a lot of data is presented in a clean and usable format. This interactive shows location, time, size, milestones, and event category.
One of my pet-peeves is when data sources are not cited on a visualization, chart, graph, etc. Not only do they cite the source but they also provide a download link to the data. You can use the processed data from the Guardian or download the raw data from wikileaks. With the data provided, we can perform visualizations on our own, (visualisingdata and tableausoftware) to verify the results and conclusions.
